Synopsis
Hyper Knife (하이퍼나이프) follows Jung Se-ok (Park Eun-bin), once a brilliant neurosurgeon whose career was destroyed years earlier. Stripped of her medical license, she now runs a small pharmacy by day and operates as an unlicensed "shadow doctor" by night, taking on the surgeries no hospital will touch.
Se-ok's double life collides with her past when she comes face to face with Choi Deok-hee (Sul Kyung-gu), the celebrated surgeon and former mentor she holds responsible for her downfall. What begins as a personal vendetta — Se-ok setting out to humiliate Deok-hee at the prestigious Ichida Awards — pulls both of them into a tangled reckoning over the patient and the decision that split them apart a decade earlier. Anesthesiologist Han Hyun-ho (Park Byung-eun) and Se-ok's ally Seo Young-joo (Yoon Chan-young) are drawn into the fallout as the two surgeons are repeatedly forced back onto the same operating table.
Directed by Kim Jung-hyun and written by Kim Sun-hee, the eight-episode series aired on Disney+ from March 19 to April 9, 2025, releasing two episodes every Wednesday. Its TV-MA rating reflects graphic surgical scenes and the show's willingness to sit inside operating rooms most medical dramas cut away from.
Hyper Knife plays out less as a hospital procedural than as a slow-burn thriller about ambition, guilt and the ethics of medicine practiced outside its rules — a rivalry where every operation doubles as a confrontation neither surgeon can walk away from.
