A hundred and ninety one Asian films, counted from the archive rather than typed in, so the number at the top moves the day a record is added. South Korea accounts for 162 of them, with Japan, China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand behind it. That is what this archive is, and saying so is more use than pretending the spread is even.

Drama is the largest genre at 95 titles, then action and thriller at 52 each, romance at 41, crime at 35 and comedy at 32. Thirty four further genres appear on at least one film. Picking one narrows the grid where it stands, and picking a second adds to it rather than replacing it, so romance and crime together is one click away from either.

How long an Asian film runs

Of the films here that carry a runtime, 80 sit between ninety minutes and two hours, 40 finish inside ninety, and 28 run past two hours. The filter uses those three bands rather than exact minutes, because an hour and fifty one against an hour and fifty three is not a decision anybody makes, and "under ninety minutes" is.

What a film record holds

The cast in billing order, the director and the writer, the genre, the certificate where one was issued, and where the film can be watched. Where a fact could not be sourced the field is left empty rather than filled with a guess, so a blank on a record here means nobody could confirm it, not that nobody looked.
