What is in this list

Four hundred and sixty four dramas, and the count at the top of the page is read from the archive itself rather than typed in, so it moves the day a record is added. South Korea supplies 421 of them, which is honest about what this archive is: it began as a Korean drama list and is still mostly one, with Japan, China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand filling in behind.

Romance is the largest genre at 250 titles, comedy follows at 110, and thriller, action and mystery sit close together in the sixties and fifties. If you came for a romance asian drama in particular, the genre filter is the short route: it narrows the grid where it stands and keeps whatever else you have already picked.

How long an Asian drama actually runs

The archive answers this better than a rule of thumb does. Of the 464 dramas here, 180 run between 9 and 16 episodes, which is the shape most Korean broadcast and streaming series take: one season, a written ending, no renewal. A further 122 run between 17 and 50, which is where most Chinese series land, and 42 pass 50 episodes, which is mostly daily dramas. Only 43 finish inside 8.

That matters more than it sounds. A 16 episode Korean series is about sixteen hours and then it is over. A 50 episode Chinese series is a different commitment, and knowing which one you are starting is most of the decision.

Where to watch them

Netflix carries 60 of the titles here, more than any other single streaming service, but the Korean broadcasters together carry far more: SBS 74, KBS2 57, tvN 55, MBC 54. Sixty one further networks and platforms appear on at least one record. The "Where to watch" filter lists them by how many titles each one holds, so the number beside a name is what clicking it gives you rather than a guess.

Every record opens onto its own page, where the cast is listed by billing, the air dates are the ones that were announced, and anything nobody could source is left empty rather than filled in.
