Synopsis
Yoo Jin Woo, the CEO of a gaming company, travels to Granada to track down Jung Se Joo, a former colleague and the reclusive developer behind an unfinished augmented reality game built around the city's Alhambra Palace. Se Joo has vanished, leaving Jin Woo to stay at the hostel run by Se Joo's older sister, Jung Hee Joo, while he tries to get the rights to the game and find the man who built it.
Unable to wait, Jin Woo installs the beta version through a set of AR lenses and starts playing the game on the streets of Granada, only to find it uses a level of realism that goes far beyond any game he has developed himself: injuries in the game register as real pain, and defeated players do not simply respawn. The in-game villain he keeps facing looks exactly like Cha Hyung Seok, his former business partner and rival, who died under circumstances Jin Woo has never fully accounted for.
As Jin Woo keeps encountering Hyung Seok inside the game, the line between the AR world and his own life starts to blur, and he can no longer be sure whether what he is seeing is a game mechanic, a hallucination, or something the game's unfinished code was never meant to do. Searching for Se Joo and a way to shut the game down safely pulls Jin Woo and Hee Joo together, even as the game keeps forcing Jin Woo to confront what happened to Hyung Seok before it destroys him.
