Synopsis
The film continues the story of the grim reaper Gang Rim and his fellow guides, who once again lead souls through the trials of the afterlife. Following the events that closed the first film, Gang Rim finds his own case reopened, and the record of his death drags Hae Won Maek and the rest of the reaper trio back into King Yeomra's court to answer for choices they made centuries earlier.
On the mortal side, a young man named Kim Soo Hong dies unexpectedly, and his case forces the reapers to confront how ordinary, unremarkable lives are judged against the same standards as extraordinary ones. His trial becomes the thread that ties the afterlife proceedings back to the world of the living, and to the household he leaves behind.
As flashbacks unfold, the film traces the reapers' own buried history, showing how their fates were bound together long before they became agents of the afterlife. Guilt, loyalty and the debts owed between the living and the dead resurface, and King Yeomra's court becomes less a courtroom than a mirror for the choices each character has spent a lifetime avoiding.
