Qi Yuwu
戚玉武
Qi Yuwu is a China-born, Singapore-based actor known for The Little Nyonya (2008) and The Family Court, for which he won a Star Awards Best Actor prize.
Biography
Qi Yuwu (戚玉武) was born on November 28, 1976, in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, and trained at the Guangzhou Physical Education Institute. He later became a permanent resident of Singapore and has worked under contract to Beijing Enlight Media Group.
He has acted in Singaporean television since 1999, including The Little Nyonya (2008) as Chen Xi, The Family Court (2010) as Lin Leshan, the C.L.I.F. series (2011–2014) as Tang Yaojia, and The Dream Makers (2013) and its sequel (2015). He also appeared in The Ferryman: Legends of Nanyang (2021) and, internationally, in the 2011 Australian film Bait 3D; he was nominated for Best Actor at the 49th Australian Film Institute Awards for The Home Song Stories.
Qi has won several Star Awards, including Best Actor for The Family Court (2011) and The Dream Makers II (2016), and received the Asian Television Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for The Little Nyonya in 2009.
He married fellow actress Joanne Peh on September 9, 2014, at the Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa. They have two children, a daughter born in August 2015 and a son born in April 2017.
