Story of Yanxi Palace

Wei Yingluo enters the Forbidden City as an embroidery maid with no interest in favour and one interest in the truth about her sister's death. The Qianlong court rewards patience and punishes it in the same breath, and what starts as a private investigation, leading her to discover that her sister was assaulted by Prince He and killed on his mother's orders, becomes a climb through the ranks of the inner palace, each promotion buying her a few more feet of reach.

Along the way she builds a genuine bond with Empress Fuca, falls for the palace guard Fuca Fuheng, and catches the eye of the Qianlong Emperor himself, rising from maid to Imperial Noble Consort while never losing sight of the justice she came in looking for.

Story of Yanxi Palace starred Wu Jinyan as Wei Yingluo, with Nie Yuan, Charmaine Sheh, Qin Lan, and Xu Kai in key roles. The 70-episode series aired on iQIYI and Zhejiang Television in 2018, drew more than 13 billion streams that year, stayed the most-watched online drama in China for 39 straight days, and became the most-googled TV show in the world in 2018.
