Synopsis
Collectors (도굴), also released internationally as Tomb Robbery and Grave Robbery, is a 2020 South Korean heist film about tomb raiders chasing a treasure buried beneath Seoul. Kang Dong Goo (Lee Je Hoon) assembles a crew of diggers, forgers, and dealers, and the search turns into a race against rival thieves after the same prize.
Dong Goo's plans depend on Yoon Se Hee (Shin Hye Sun), a museum curator whose expertise lets the crew tell a genuine relic from a fake, and whose own motives are never fully clear. Around them, a wider circle of collectors and middlemen, including characters played by Jo Woo Jin and Im Won Hee, each want a cut of whatever the group finds, and alliances shift as the crew gets closer to the tomb.
Director Park Jung Bae, working from a screenplay by Ryu Sun Gyoo, moves the story between the crew's schemes, a museum break-in, and a rooftop chase before it settles into an underground confrontation where the treasure and the betrayals behind it both come to light. The film leans on banter and improvised cons as much as on the archaeology itself, treating the search as a puzzle the characters have to talk their way through rather than simply dig their way to.
