Doctors
Synopsis
Doctors follows Yoo Hye-jung, a headstrong teenager with a troubled home life and a reputation for fighting, whose path changes when she meets Hong Ji-hong, a compassionate teacher who sees potential no one else does in her. Under his guidance she turns her life around, and the two are separated soon after.
Thirteen years later, Hye-jung has become a skilled and unapologetically blunt neurosurgeon, and she is reunited with Ji-hong, now a senior doctor at the same hospital, when she joins his surgical team. Working side by side forces old feelings back to the surface, complicated by colleagues Jung Yoon-do, a warm-hearted pediatric surgeon who falls for Hye-jung, and Jin Seo-woo, a top student turned neurosurgery fellow with her own history with Ji-hong.
Set against operating rooms and hospital politics, the drama mixes medical cases with the mentor-student bond at its center, tracking how Hye-jung's rough edges and Ji-hong's guarded reserve soften as they navigate the hospital hierarchy, rival doctors and their own unresolved past.
Doctors aired on SBS from June 20 to August 23, 2016, and earned Park Shin-hye the Top Excellence Award for Actress in a Genre & Fantasy Drama at the 2016 SBS Drama Awards.
