Synopsis
Hello Monster (너를 기억해), also released as I Remember You, is a 16-episode KBS2 crime thriller that aired from 22 June to 11 August 2015. Seo In-guk plays Lee Hyun, a criminal profiler back from the United States, and Jang Na-ra plays Cha Ji-an, the detective who has been watching him since they were children.
As a boy, Lee Hyun was shut away in a basement room by his father, a police officer who feared his son was turning into a monster after contact with the convicted killer Lee Joon-young. The father was murdered, Hyun's younger brother Lee Min vanished, and Hyun lost his memories of those years. Years later an email pulls him back to Korea, where he starts consulting for the police's Team 1 on a string of murders that seem to lead back to his own past.
Cha Ji-an has her own reason to be there. Her father disappeared on the night Lee Joon-young escaped from custody, and she has been investigating Lee Hyun long before she becomes his partner. Park Bo-gum plays Jung Sun-ho, a defence lawyer who keeps turning up around the team's cases, and Choi Won-young plays Lee Joon-ho. Lee Chun-hee, Min Sung-wook, Kim Jae-young, Son Seung-won and Im Ji-eun round out the Hello Monster cast.
Kwon Ki-young wrote the K-drama and Noh Sang-hoon directed it. AGB Nielsen's nationwide ratings stayed between 4.0% and 5.3% across the run, and Park Bo-gum won Best Supporting Actor and a Popularity Award at the 2015 KBS Drama Awards for the role.
Why it still gets watched
Interest in Hello Monster picked up again after Park Bo-gum's back-to-back 2025 roles in When Life Gives You Tangerines and Good Boy. Gulf News called his cold, calculating turn as Lee Min his best role yet in a career built mostly on warmer characters, and Soap Central singled the 2015 performance out as an underrated one worth setting next to his newer work.

The series asks whether a child who frightens his own parent was born that way or made that way. Lee Hyun's father locks him away to stop him turning into a killer, and that decision shapes everything that follows: the lost memories, the missing brother, a career spent reading other people's minds.
The two leads come at the same question from opposite sides. Cha Ji-an lost her father on the night Lee Joon-young escaped, and she was investigating Lee Hyun long before she became his partner. The episode titles, from "Every Child's Story Begins with Their Parents" to "I Remember You", keep family at the centre of every case.
Interesting facts
- Script reading in Yeouido. The cast held the first script reading at the end of April 2015 at the KBS Annex in Yeouido, Seoul.
- A theme for Cha Ji-an. Kim Ye-rim's "Who Are You" (너, 누구니), written and composed by the JYP-affiliated team Kkul Dan-ji, came out at noon on 6 July 2015 as the character's theme and was set to play from episode 5 that night.
- D.O. in the first two episodes. When the roles were announced on 18 April 2015, Soompi reported that EXO's D.O. would appear in episodes 1 and 2 as someone lost in Lee Hyun's memories.
Remakes and other versions
A Thai adaptation titled Remember You (คือเธอ) aired on TrueID in 2021 and later reached Netflix. It follows the same setup as the Korean original: brothers separated as children, with the older one becoming an investigator whose murder cases keep circling back to the sibling he lost.
