Synopsis
Take Charge of My Heart is a Netflix romantic comedy with a fantasy twist, released on 9 October 2026. Netflix describes it as an electrifying rom-com about a man whose artificial heart is running out of battery and the woman with the unusual power to recharge him. It is based on Charge Me Up, a Naver web novel by the writer Haebeon.
Baek Ho-rang (Kim Young Kwang) is a third-generation chaebol heir who runs his family group's resorts. Netflix Korea describes him as a gifted businessman, strong on both strategy and execution. What almost nobody knows is that he lives with an artificial heart, and its battery is failing.
Na Bo-bae (Chae Soo Bin) is a drama writer up against a contract deadline. She was struck by lightning as a child and has carried an electrical current in her body ever since. Her touch does not shock Ho-rang. It recharges him, which makes her the only person who can safely hold on to him.
Ho-rang offers her a deal. According to Netflix Korea, the contract covers three months of physical contact to keep his battery charged until his surgery; Wikitree reported that the timing also ties into the fight over his family's corporate succession. Bo-bae has her own reason to say yes, since her next script needs romance experience she does not have. The tagline from the Netflix Korea announcement sums up the arrangement: touch to charge, distance to discharge.
Park Su-won directs from a script by Song Yu-chae; it is his first romantic comedy after Drinkers in the City 2 and Postpartum Care Center. NEW and Whynot Media produce. Cha Woo Min plays Ji Eun-ho and Jung Jae Kwang plays Choi Do-yoon, with Shin Do Hyun as Han Seol-hui.

Themes and messages
Touch as survival. The premise turns the rom-com's first touch into a medical need: Ho-rang has to stay close to Bo-bae to keep his heart running, and the Netflix Korea tagline reads touch to charge, distance to discharge.
A contract that will not stay a contract. Both leads sign up for practical reasons, his surgery and her script, which sets up the familiar question of when the deal stops being a deal.
Bickering as chemistry. Kim Young Kwang told Wikitree the two constantly bicker and fight on screen, and Chae Soo Bin called the story lively, adorable and warm.
