The Queen’s Classroom
Synopsis
The Queen's Classroom (여왕의 교실) centers on Ma Yeo-jin, a rigid, unyielding sixth-grade teacher whose harsh perfectionism and unconventional methods put her sharply at odds with her students and their parents over the course of a single school year. Rather than coddling her class, Yeo-jin pushes, tests, and even seems to punish them, leaving both students and viewers uncertain whether she is a tyrant or is quietly preparing her students for the harsher realities of the world outside the classroom.
Among her students, Shim Ha-na stands out as an earnest, hardworking girl determined to prove herself despite Yeo-jin's severity, while classmates including Kim Seo-hyun, Oh Dong-gu, Eun Bo-mi, and Go Na-ri each respond differently to their teacher's demanding approach, forming friendships and rivalries shaped by how they cope with her pressure. Around them, school principal Yong Hyun-ja and vice-principal Song Young-man observe the fallout of Yeo-jin's methods, caught between parental complaints and the results she manages to produce.
Go Hyun-jung stars as Ma Yeo-jin, with Kim Hyang-gi, Kim Sae-ron, and a young supporting cast playing her students. A remake of the acclaimed 2005 Japanese drama of the same name, the MBC series aired from June to August 2013 across 16 episodes.
