Flower Boy Next Door

Go Dok-mi is a freelance copy editor who has not left her small apartment in nearly a year, filling her days by watching the building across the way through a pair of binoculars, drawn especially to Tae-joon, the quiet neighbor she has never actually spoken to. Her carefully guarded isolation collapses the moment two new neighbors move in: Enrique Geum, a Spain-based video game developer with an outsized personality, and Oh Jin-rak, a webtoon artist who has quietly noticed Dok-mi for years and finally works up the courage to knock on her door.

When Enrique catches Dok-mi spying and mistakes her intentions, he drags her out of hiding and, once he learns the truth, appoints himself her first real friend in years. Jin-rak, meanwhile, hopes their new proximity will finally let him say what he has kept to himself. As Dok-mi is pulled between the two men, old wounds resurface through Cha Do-hwi, a former friend from her school days whose falling-out with Dok-mi still shapes how she sees herself.

Over sixteen episodes, the four neighbors' overlapping histories play out in a loose romantic square, with the comedy leaning on Enrique's culture-shocked bluntness and the ache running through Jin-rak's years of silence. Underneath the setups and misunderstandings, the series is really about what pulls someone like Dok-mi back into contact with the people around her, one small, forced interaction at a time.

By its final stretch, Dok-mi has to decide whether the guarded life she built alone is worth trading for the messier, more uncertain one waiting just outside her door.
