Synopsis
Park Kyung Rim, a 27-year-old museum curator, and So Yoo Jin, her same-age roommate, could not be more different: Kyung Rim is eccentric and impulsive, while Yoo Jin is composed and elegant. When the two end up sharing a home, their clashing personalities set off a string of everyday disasters, from mixed-up chores to competing love interests.
Kyung Rim works at a small gallery run by veteran director Kim Soo Mi, where she juggles demanding artists and dismissive patrons. Her older brother Park Seung Soo, an English-academy instructor, adds his own comic subplot at home, while Kim Min Hyuk, the pampered youngest son of a wealthy family, drifts in and out of the household causing chaos of his own. Park Shin Hye, in one of her first television roles, appears as a high school student tied to the household.
The series builds much of its comedy around a museum exhibition that keeps threatening to fall apart because of Kyung Rim's mistakes, only to be saved, barely, by the people around her.
Cute or Crazy premiered on SBS on February 28, 2005 and aired weekly on Mondays. Despite decent ratings of around 14.9 percent, the show was pulled after only 17 episodes because its production costs ran well above budget for a typical sitcom; its June 27, 2005 finale marked SBS's last homegrown sitcom for more than two years.
