Synopsis
100 Days of Deception is a tvN period spy romance set in 1932 Gyeongseong, the colonial-era name for Seoul, during Japanese rule. It premieres on 10 October 2026 in tvN's Saturday and Sunday 9:10 pm slot and is tvN's 20th-anniversary drama. The series runs for 16 episodes and streams on TVING in Korea and on Netflix worldwide.
Lee Ga-kyung (Kim You Jung) is the best pickpocket and con artist in Gyeongseong, and all she wants is a ticket to America. The independence army offers her exactly that, in exchange for one job: get inside the Japanese Government-General of Korea and work there as a spy for 100 days. She goes in under the name Geum Seo-hee, a fake spy who will have to become a real one to survive.
Inside the Government-General she meets Kim Tae-woong (Park Jinyoung), an elite interpreter who speaks three languages and works under the Japanese name Sato Hideo. He is the adopted son of Sato Shinichi (Jin Sun Kyu), the newly appointed Director-General of Political Affairs, which puts him close to the very power Ga-kyung has been sent to watch. Their romance grows out of the lies each of them is telling.
A second couple carries the story's other thread. Yoo So-ran (Kim Hyun Joo) is a sniper for the independence movement who returns under a new identity, and Phillip Yoo (Lee Moo Saeng) is a Korean-American correspondent for a US news company stationed in Gyeongseong. According to English Wikipedia the two enter a marriage of convenience. At the press conference on 29 September 2026 Kim Hyun Joo said their romance is not easy either, and even more heartbreaking.
Yoo In-sik, who made Dr. Romantic and Extraordinary Attorney Woo, directs with Kim Yoon-jin from an original script by Ryu Bo-ri, the writer of Do You Like Brahms?. Studio Dragon and Nangmancrew produce. Kim In Kwon, Park Jung Yeon, Lee Ki Young and Choi Deok Moon head the supporting cast.

Themes and messages
A fake spy becoming a real one. The premise turns on Ga-kyung's change of motive: she joins the mission for a ticket to America, and the 100 days force her to decide what she actually believes in.
Love built on lies. Both couples meet under false identities, a pickpocket with a borrowed name and an interpreter with a Japanese one, and a sniper who returns as someone else. Kim Hyun Joo told the press on 29 September 2026 that her couple's story is even more heartbreaking than the leads'.
Respect for the period. Kim You Jung said the script reading opened with a moment of silence for independence fighters, and director Yoo In-sik said that so few buildings and objects from the era survive that accuracy weighed on the art team.
