Doctor Prisoner
닥터 프리즈너
Also known as Doctor Peurijeuneo
Synopsis
Na Yi-je is a talented doctor whose career is derailed when a hospital forces him out, costing him not just his job but any say over how the institution treats the people who depend on it. Rather than walk away, he sets out to take the hospital back by the least likely route available to him: becoming the prison doctor at a nearby correctional facility.
From inside the prison, Yi-je starts building the leverage, connections, and reputation he needs to move back into the hospital's orbit, treating inmates while quietly working toward the people responsible for his dismissal. Han So-geum becomes one of the few people close to his real plans, while figures like Seon Min-sik and Lee Jae-joon complicate his path from opposite sides of the conflict.
The series spends its 32 episodes tracking how far Yi-je is willing to go, and what he is willing to compromise, to turn a professional humiliation into a full return to power inside the institution that discarded him.
Doctor Prisoner aired on KBS2 from March 30 to May 26, 2019, starring Namkoong Min as Na Yi-je, with Kwon Nara, Kim Byung-chul, Choi Won-young and Park Eun-seok in the supporting cast.
